adidas Originals presents its latest retro model for Summer 2008, the Toronto NBA.

As the official outfitter for the National Basketball League, adidas utilizes some of the classic NBA team colors to come up with unique colorways for the Originals NBA footwear, and this combination is a definite winner!

Here we present some early heat from the adidas Consortium division. This time, they have unleashed a slew of talked about  retro styles in classic silhouettes. Classics like the Forest Hill, Trimm Trab and Tobacco, sneakers are sure shot collectables for adi fans. The Campus Vintage and Nizza high have been remixed with high grade import fabrics and are a lane shift for those trying to deviate from average colors. MAJOR serves up a monthly celebration of iconic adidas models. This range provides a unique variety in style for adidas. May’s Flavor of the World is inspired by Sanja Matsuri: one of the grandest and wildest Japanese festivals in Tokyo. This 3 day festival brings luck, blessings and prosperity to the Tokyo area. Very similar to what MAJOR does for D.C. Below, the adidas Americana Lo Lux features all the elements of the festival.

Next is the ZX 800 “Jesse Owens”. This special ZX pays homage to an African American track and field icon. The shoe features an embossed Olympic track and field logo at the toe box and an embroidered USA track and field logo on the tongue. It also has an image of Owens, winning gold in the Olympics, on the sole.

Yet another classic in the adidas remix catalogue, the “Lightswitch Ice Cold.”  This one utilizes patent metallic silver accents, a clear gum sole, and an Undrcrwn lace lock across the toe box.  Celebrating the love of the “bling”, the Ice Cold theme, is based on platinum chains and diamond studded medallions, mandatory accessories for any NBA All-Star.  The shoe tongue includes a hologram of both adidas and UNDRCRWN symbols.  This edition is limited to 100 pairs worldwide.

MAJOR continues to deliver new classics from the brand with the three stripes. The Forum Lo RS comes in all red suede with a white sole. Very clean a basic. No more no less.

The adidas women’s “Honey Mid” has a vulcanized silhouette from the 80s and is a part of the leisure collection. The Mid has a canvas upper and vulcanized tooling across the body of the shoe. The colors are great for the summer and will stand out with any outfit.

Under the direction of Sheldon Donnell, adidas has come a long way this year from being a guaranteed, but distant, 2nd place finisher to Nike in premium athletic footwear category. These days, adidas is more strategic, style-friendly, and culturally relevant in the US, like it never has been before. The latest projects from the 3 stripes show the promise the brand has for the future:

First up, Superstar Jam Master Jay Tribute:

Jason Mizell, a.k.a. Jam Master Jay (R.I.P.), was not only 1/3 of the pioneering rap trio Run DMC, but also an early influencer in style. It was Jason who introduced Joey (Run) and Darryl (DMC) to rocking leather jackets, and shelltoe adidas sneakers with no laces. Years later, while Run jumped ship from being the adidas guy to running Run Athletics brand with his brother, Russell Simmons, Jay kept his loyalty to adidas, and was always seen rocking adidas kicks.

In honor of JMJ’s life, adidas has released the Superstar JMJ Tribute. MAJOR is honored to be carrying the shoe that bears the name and image of a true pioneer.

Next up, we have a new updated version of Stan Smith, it’s Stan Smith 2.5 Comfort, which features an autoclave sole unit, along with clean velcro enclosure for that easy access during the warm weather. Equally great from the streets of DC to the streets of Miami, or the Bay, this is definitely not the old Stan Smith, but the updated symbol of luxury from adidas.

Finally, from the highly acclaimed Tournament Edition Series of most authentic tennis retros, we present the Nastase.
